What to do concerning funerals: Contact
the Parish (ph:5572 5433) as soon as
possible. (The undertaker may offer to
do this for you.) A Priest will visit
you at home as soon as possible. We
will provide you with a range of prayers and readings from which to choose
the funeral service. There is no need to worry about printing an Order of
Service. The Parish takes care of that
for you at no additional cost.
Funerals are celebrated at all three Parish Churches. We have talked about a Columbarium in our Parish
for over ten years. What is a
Columbarium? It is a wall of
niches to hold the ashes of our loved ones.
We have built a Columbarium behind Sacred Heart Church overlooking our
lake. We officially blessed and opened our Columbarium on the 16th
August, 2005. All Niches in the first
wall have now been sold, and we are presently taking reservations for the
second wall. We are registering expressions
of interest for anyone who may want to reserve a niche for themselves
or one of their family. Pope
Paul VI allowed Catholics to be cremated in the early 1960’s. Before 1960 Catholics were not allowed to
be cremated. All of my Priesthood, I
have assisted families who have chosen to have one of their family members
cremated and their ashes placed in a Columbarium or a similar resting place. If you would like to express an interest in booking
a niche in our Columbarium, please call the Parish Office and leave your name
and phone number and someone from the Columbarium Committee will
contact you to discuss the details and possibly arrange to reserve a niche. Click here to view a copy of
the Columbarium Brochure. Below are some photos of the
Columbarium and Memorial Book (see Columbarium Brochure for more details) |
