Topic 3: Called to the Supper

V       Jesus asks the woman at the well for a drink.  (John 5:1).

A        Jesus talks to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus and then stops to eat with them. (Luke 24:13-32).

U       The Pharisees get angry with Jesus and his disciples for picking corn to eat on a Holy Day.   (Mark 2:23-28).

T        Jesus tells the story about the Rich Man who has plenty to eat, while poor Lazarus is starving at his front door and has dogs lick his wounds.  (Luke 16:19-31).

E        Jesus tells the servants to fill the jars up with water and changes the water into wine at the Wedding Feast of Cana.   (John 2:1-11).

I         Jesus feeds the 5,000 people with 5 loaves and 2 fish a young boy offers.  (John 6:1).

E        Jesus tells the story about the boy who runs away from home and spends all his Father's money and would love to eat what the pigs are eating.  (Luke 15:11-16).

E       Oh the night before he died, Jesus had supper with his disciples and he blessed the bread and wine.  (Mark 14:22-25).

S       Jesus calls Matthew, the tax collector, while he is counting his money and goes to his place to eat  (Matthew 9:9-13).

I         Jesus tells the story about the Sower who goes out to sow the seed.  (Matthew 13:1-9).

J       The Devil tempts Jesus to turn the stones into bread.  (Matthew 4:1-11).

S       Jesus tells the story of the person who knocks on the door in the middle of the night because they don't have enough bread for their guest  (Luke 11:5-6).

L        After the Resurrection, Jesus appears to the Disciples while they are fishing and invites them to come and have breakfast.  (John 21:1-11).

A       Jesus tells about the 5 foolish Bridesmaids who couldn't get to the Wedding Feast because they didn't have oil to keep their lamps alight  (Matthew 25:1-13).

E       Jesus goes to Martha and Mary's house and Martha complains that Mary won't help her prepare the meal because she is talking to Jesus.  (Luke 10:38-42).

O       Jesus calls Zacchaeus down from the tree to come and eat with him. (Luke 19:1-10).

N       Jesus raised the daughter of Jairus from the dead and tells them to give her something to eat.  (Mark 5:35-43).

T       Jesus tells the story about the Good Samaritan who puts the sick man on his donkey, takes him to an inn and tells them to look after him and feed him.  (Luke 10:30-37).

M      At the Last Supper, Jesus washes his Disciples feet.  (John 13:4-16).

S        Jesus is eating at the house of Simon the Pharisee when a woman comes in and rubs oil on his feet  (Luke 7:36-50).

M      Jesus tells a story of a rich fool who just wants to eat and drink.  (Luke 12:13-21).
